Wonderful Dog breeds..Past and present..

HOW did you train Lucy to wrangle the chickens? Was it something 'natural' that she developed on her own, or did you actually train her? We are considering a Great Pyrenees or mix when we move. There is a GP rescue here in Portland. We would like something that has a mind to keep an eye on the property/livestock (chickens) but not what people would consider a 'guard dog'. More of a watch dog, but something that can go to the beach with us and is not outside all the time.
I trained her. She wanted to chase so I taught her commands and used a volley ball as a training tool . She was taught to use her feet on the ball and not her mouth. She boxes my Birds with her front feet all the time ...:thumbsup

I love a Papitese. My best dog ever. I have owned beagles with parents and a cocker spaniel besides. I love all breeds though.
