Wondering about the largest bird you might have?

Here's the largest bird we have!!!

Whoops, now I see we're talking about chickens.
Oh well.

WOW! Those are some impressive birds. I felt kinda guilty for a minute looking at them like one might appreciate a nude figure. I hope that doesn't make me a pervertette. Those are some GORGEOUS boys. I have my first experience with some Jersey Giants, and they are awesome. Truly some big birds. I only have 1 roo and he is only seven months old, but I am trying to convince my husband to ride him to work and save gas.....

I don't have a very good picture of him because he is skittish, but I will try to get one. I stand about 5'5" tall with rather long legs, and he stands about mid thigh on me. Every time I try to pick him up he whips the snot out of me. Kinda embarrassing if you really wanna know.

But he is awesome. I can't waith to see how big he really gets when he is full grown. When he crows, it is so deep that it sounds like it comes from his toes.

Not really, this girl was raised from a hatchling and has never became real friendly. When she starts laying eggs, in the spring, and we go on a hunt to retrive them she will lie down and let you approach her and pet her, otherwise she is rather skitish, but not agressive.

:gigHaving only silkies & polish bantams up to now... I guess I am going to be watching the standard eggs I am setting this week for some big guys. Wowzer.........Looks like you could saddle up some of those and give chicky rides as a side job!

Do the biggies fly well? Sounds like Nugget sure can. He is a legend in his own time.

Here is one of my Jersey Giant roos with a Buff Orp hen. We dressed a few out and they weighed in at 5 1/2 lbs. We got 8 lbs of scrap from each of them because I don't keep the wings, just the body meat. I have not ever tried to weigh one before we dress them out. But they are so huge they barely fit in the killing cones.
They are pretty but you can imagine what they do to these hens being that large.
