Wondering what did this? Chewing

I didn't know possums were immune to the baits, so I'm glad you mentioned it. And certainly not stupid. Quite the opposite in my book.

As for how anything but a rat got to it, that is not the point.........the fact is it did....and managed to drag it out to boot. And if the baits are left loose in a bowl or dish, even a rat could drag them out and move them around. They are known for doing that. So if folks are concerned that these poison baits could be moved out where something else could get to them, pinning them in place where nothing but rats and mice can get to them is essential. Easiest way to do that is to use a bait station designed for that use.

I have been using the plate under the table for many years and until this week never had an issue until this possum came along. I still have my bait stations that are full of bait and haven't been touched which was a surprise because usually the rats go into the bait stations and eat on that bait first but when whole chunks came up missing a second time, up went a camera to investigate to see what it is. I had a rat infestation in one of my coops last year but rectified the situation and renovated that coop, which has no more rats. I actually haven't had a rat around for a very long time and the baits have been untouched. The trap is set.
