Wondering What Kind of Chickens These Girls Are?

Earlier this year I got two chicks that looked very dark brown, I was thinking they might be partridge rocks or dark brahmas, but they have matured into hens that I cannot identify.

Can you help?

look like EE mix. the color pattern and slight green leg color would indicate the EE portion (of course everyone will tell you EE in and of itself is mix)

Barnyard Special Blend. Looks like mix of laying breeds, should be a good layer.

I was wondering about the EE part. I will have to compare their legs to my other EE's. Their faces do remind me of EE's I have had that have no muffs... That is what I have been thinking right along, but I also realize that is not a good method of identification.

I purchased them at Family Farm and Home earlier this year, thinking I would be surprised... and I am!

So now the question is, because I am familiar with the hatchery the Family Farm and Home orders their chicks from, do hatcheries generally breed a "mix" or was their an escaping rooster? LOL
