Wont stop crowing!!!

They should have something fairly close.. Of course you would have to keep selecting for it through several generations, but you should get there. I don't think they've created one completely silent yet, but they said that when he crowed you really had to listen for it.. It is really interesting, I think, some people breed for the longcrowers and then you have these guys who breed for the nocrowers..

I know a lady who would pay money for those roos. She lives on 40 acres and the neighbors built their house right up agains the property line. She's really mad about it, so she bought all 5 of my roos. Now she's going to teach them to crow. I told her about the long crowing roos, and she's searching the net to find some. She really planning on making her neighbors regret building there.

Let's see here: geoaware is in Platteville-Fort Lupton, CO, and Lone Cowboy is in Longmont, CO. And, piecemaker, how far is Centerville, TX, from CO? Any way you guys can get together and help LoneCowboy's neighbor out? I really think your roos are meant to live with her ... if *she* can stand it!

Right after I posted, I saw this thread called, "Stopped Crowing".

"This is a great article that will tell you how to train your roo not to crow. I've used some similar methods with success, but the article makes a good point about the dominance. Now the only time they really crow is when they get bored, which I can work towards fixing.

Is *no* one happy with the status quo? <sigh>

Unless the roo is a pet it is not worth all that "training" And his "training" is called conditioning. He is trying to get a chicken to not act like a chicken. If you don't like a roo crowing get rid of it or put up with it, It's what chickens do! Unless of course like I said before, it is more of a pet than anything. Than it may be worth it. Good luck whatever you do.
