Won't use roost

I had a roost in my coop and I guess it was too weak b/c when all the girls piled up on it at once it broke. Due to my procrastination issues they are now 4 months old and I just put a new one in, but they won't even come near it. At night they all huddle on the other end of the coop and sleep. How can I get them to roost on it?

Just give them time. They'll figure it out eventually.

I went in my coop while they were asleep and set them on our new roost. Half of them stayed all night. Every once and awhile I do notice them on it, but not as often as I was hoping for. Maybe I'll go out there and put them on it now....it is 10 pm they should be sound asleep by now!

i agree with wolf kim they will get used to it in time and start roosting its a natural instinct and it will take over most likely
