We got the call at 4:30pm this afternoon that our 14 NH reds were in! We were so excited, we couldn't get there fast enough! When we got there, there were 4 bins with various types of chicks. One bin we noticed said NH Reds but there was a piece of paper tacked next to that which said "RIR's-Sent in Error." We were like Uh-Oh. Sure enough it's our turn at the counter, we give our name and the lady says, "OH OK, WELL ummm see....." LOL. She confirmed that the RIR's were sent in error. We could take those or wait till June 8th for the next batch of NH Reds. WAIT??!! We'd already waited what seemed ages for these chicks! Fortunately, we are not fussy at this point. We just really want to get started. And truth be told, every chick they had there was beyond cute so really, what difference does it make? None to us! LOL. The RIR's were absolutely adorable which didn't hurt! lol. So...we're the proud parents of 13 RIR's. They are safely ensconsed in their booder. Most seem to be sleeping at this point. Is that normal? I imagine it must be considering the stress they must be under with all the transporting they've done today.
We took pics which I will post a bit later.
I want to send out a shout of congrats to all the new chick parents out there! I wish I had time to respond to each of your posts. Just know that I am very happy for each of you and share in your enthusiasm! I look forward to comparing notes with you as our babies grow. I'm sure it's going to be quite an adventure. What fun!
