Wood ash for mites?

Just glanced at an article about mites and it said one remedy was wood ash. I assume just regular ol wood ashes from your fireplace is what it meant. I keep a fire burning alot during winter and usually just dump my ashes in the garden area. I don't have a mite problem but if it helps then I'll just start dumping them in the chicken yard.

Yes regular wood ash, Adding them to where they dust bath works best.

Awsome. I don't think my girls have mites but I'll start putting some in the pen just in case or as a prevention. I'm burning wood every night anyway! Thanks sbrown for bringing this to my attention.
