hi,
i have recently order various duckling breeds that will come in just in time for spring. i love ducks, but am somewhat a beginner when it comes to raising them. i have been looking into raising wood (or mandarin) ducks to place on a pond next to my house. i’m wondering if they will need some sort of enclosure or aviary or if they will stay on the pond by themselves. any info on wood ducks helps a ton!! thanks!

This is sooooo exciting. I am a new duck mama myself. I don't know much about wood ducks, but I want to say you've come to the right place for advice. Your ducks are very lucky to have a pond and I suspect they won't go too far because of it. I've seen some really neat designs for floating duck houses. I don't know if it's a requirement, but it would give them shelter if they want it and if it's floating I'd think it would be somewhat safer from predators. I think I speak for everyone when I say we can't wait to see photos of your ducklings!
