How do I go about getting information to hatch and raise wood ducks. Do I need a permit ? I know I can order them from a hatchery but I read here that a permit may be needed. Please help.

Looks like you are in S.Carolina, and it looks like you do not need a permit to keep wood ducks there. However, If you intend to sell wood ducks or their eggs you will need to apply for a Federal permit which is about $75.

It looks like S.Carolina is the place to be if you want to raise any kind of exotics, there are no regulations!! Unless you run a shooting preserve that is!!
