Wood Floor Cover

My coop currently has a dirt floor. I plan on adding a floor to make it completely predator proof. It’s going to be made of wood. What should I put on top to protect the wood? I was thinking some cheap laminate and wood shavings for bedding. I want the floor to last and I don’t want chicken poo ruining it.

My coop has a wooden floor and I put shavings down only. I would like to put something over it as well.

I'm more interested in how you are going to protect the BOTTOM of your wood floor. How are you framing it out to convert your existing dirt floor coop to a wood floor coop?
Can you post some pictures?
What materials do you plan to use?
I simply double coated my floor with Behr Porch and Floor paint.

I simple double coated my floor with Behr Porch and Floor paint.

It’s dark out at the moment. The coop is built into a barn. It’s framed in along the bottom by pine 2 by 6s all along the bottom. I plan on using 2 by 6s to do horizontal slats and laying boards on top. It will be several inches off the dirt floor so I’m not worried about the bottom. Porch paint is a good idea.

I have everything else figured out. I’m just trying to decide how to protect the top from chicken poo.

I use BlackJack 57 which is a rubberized coating that paints on, but it does need 2 coats and has a cure time so that might not be practical if the coop is in use.

Vinyl/laminate is also a fine choice.

We got a remnant of rolled laminate and used that. Pine shreads go on top.

Perfect place for rodents to reside.
