_____
Below are photos of how my girls are currently living.
.
This is the "coop" (Hutch) which I have been using.
I had been using ONLY the wood flooring.... no DE dust on the floor when I used just the wood flooring.
Here in this photo, I tossed some DE on the wood flooring, as I do in the nest box .... nest box in the back of the Hutch and roosting bricks are on the side of the Hutch.
Soup tin taped to top of FEEDER to keep, guess who ( !! Miss D'uccle !! ) from roosting on top of her feeder !!!!!!
Oh That Girl !!
.
.
Now in this second photo, I have my two girls in there, with the shredded newspaper on the flooring.
Now they hopefully won't be sitting in their droppings, or eating the food off the wood flooring mixed with droppings.
I DO want to get a pan under the Hutch, so that droppings can more easily fall thru and stay off the girls.
Also, I will try the "catch pan under the food dish" for Miss D'uccle, who seems to still throw too much food around, even with the food up on a block......higher block needed ???
I am also going to keep looking for a SECOND HUTCH in the papers, and cut out the wiring on one side of both, and join the two together .... then they will have a large sitting area and a separate, large eating area.
.
Lastly, this is a photo of a small 'tractor' that my hubby just made for me last weekend !!! Yay, hubby !!!!
(He needs his kudos)
This "tractor" should be altered, with a door so I don't always have to hold the heavy tractor UP to get the girls out....Miss Silkie loves to run out fast, past me, and run to the near-by garden or under a table so I won't catch her !!!
Okay ..... guess I won't bore you all any longer.
Thanks for all the thoughts / suggestions..... I'm sure my "girls" thank you too !!!! ;-)
