Wood sealer on interior of coop?

I used our leftover deck stain in the coop and out. Some areas likely to be damp, I used a good primer first. I did it weeks before the birds were introduced so fumes weren't an issue. They don't pick at the paint. Too much to do outside to do much inside.

I like how easy it is to clean up painted wood. I know lice find a less comfortable environment. I also used a small amount of cedar closet liner where lice or other bugs might be tempted to hide.

Not enough cedar to make a smell but bugs won't like living next to it.

I liked the deck stain because it really penetrates and is less like a "layer" outside the wood.

So far I'm deeply pleased with the result.

If the chickens were confined to run and coop, maybe I'd stick with natural wood indoors. But these are free range nutcases. Most of the day they never see the interior of the thing.
