Woods open air clean out question

Hi Gary- I had wanted a concrete floor but it’s too much manual labor to haul the concrete. The access to the site is difficult. In Woods book page 31- says dirt floors are least desirable due to rats. I am planning on hardware cloth surround apron like Howard E describes so maybe the dirt floors don’t pose problems like they used to at the time of the book. I have gophers under my garden shed but then again nothing to prevent them from getting under there.
Planning on DLM in my run.
There’s an elevated woods coop on the books cover.
He says wood floors are preferable to dirt. Not sure what to do.

Mine is raised. Wood floor. And on skids in case I decide I want to move it. Depends on your preference.
A dirt floor would work. Howards is also movable.
I have had good success keeping all preditors out with electric fence. Except the flying ones.

I stand corrected.

I love my dirt floors, I have a concrete footing 16" deep around the building and nothing has dug in, if something does I will figure a way do deal with it.

Good luck with your build

Gary
