I managed to have enough energy to get my bigger/better coop livable today after work. I got all the doors on and secured. Came in, ate supper, and as soon as the kids went to bed, my wife and I managed to run 16 six-week-olds out of the house and into the coop. There was a little bit of annoyance from my adult hen but my adult roo just sat there and watched 16 new harems be delivered to his mansion. More work on the coop tomorrow and that will allow me to keep an eye on the pecking order establishment. My house is finally quiet and now it just needs to be dusted and this brooder taken to the shed. Happy, Happy, Happy.

Way to go on getting the bigger/better coop up and running! We've had 2 groups of chicks start off in a brooder in our home over the past year. At first it seemed kind of quiet and strange to not have them in the house but once we saw how much they enjoyed their larger space, we were happy for them (plus, it was kind of like getting the house all to yourself again once the kids leave home

). Hope everything goes smoothly with the pecking order business side of things.
