I am a beginner rug-hooker. I love collecting wool and old sweaters and felting them. Does anyone else share my addiction? I make weekly trips to the Goodwill on wool hunts. Is this strange?

I have made a few rugs using kits. I never thought of using old woollies and felting them. What a great idea.
How do you felt them? Can you do it by washing them very hot?

Oh yes. I am collecting wool right now to do a huge piece. I am going to make s quilt topper from the piece.

Love it...I love braiding too.

I have sheep. For meat and wool.

I processed my ram lamb today. His wool will be tanned for a rug.

The ewes will be sheared in spring for spinning.

I have sheep also. Mine are Shropshire, the wool is okay but not great. I am going to use some for needle-felting. Yes, I wash the wool garments in hot water and dry them to felt them. Then I cut into strips for my hooking. I also like to dye them. That is fun. I am almost finished with a big project. I will post pics soon!! Oh, and we are going to process 2 males for meat soon. If it ever cools off here in WV!!
