One of our leghorns got attacked by a dog so she spends most of her time in a large dog kennel. For the past couple days we've let her out to roam a bit. Yesterday she won 2 pecking order battles. We don't let her go in the coop at dusk. She's doing just fine. Today, she has gotten pecked at and chased because she hasn't really been part of the flock for about a week, and she's smaller because of the feathers she's lost. I guess when she's healed up some more she has to find her place in the flock?

I just put her back in her kennel when I saw her squatted with a chicken on top of her and pecking at her. They pecked at the spines for the new feathers, not her wounds, but a little blood was drawn so I decided it was time for her to go in. Sometimes her and another chicken do fine but later she's being chased.

Being separated that long, it will take a good few days for her to figure out her new place in the flock. As long as there is room for her to run away and no blood, it's best to let them work it out.

She wasn't exactly tough today either. Thankfully she has plenty of room to run away from the others.
