Well I decided to ask hubby to build 4 smaller cages inside my coop where there was a long shelf doing nothing

1 for feathered out babies
1 for broody hens
1 for mating
1 for naughty roosters or injured birds

Kinda hard to see in this pic but that shelf runs all the way across so we split it down the middle enclosed it with hardware cloth and turned it into the 4 extra pens the coop is 10x12

Personally, I think it is a good idea to have some cages ready. We have a few built into our coop. You never know when you might have an injured bird. We also use them for the broodies and babies.

Well it seemed like I was always looking for a cage for some reason or other and other than satanding up there it was really wasted space imo so I put dh to work.

So I went out this am and took a picture of a finished box with chicks in it

Not a great shot I was standing kinda close but I will have 3 more by the end of today:)
