right now my buttons live together in a plastic tote - they are fine all living in one big happy group - but all my colors are running together and I would like to see if I could seperate them into groups
but I am tight onspace since my quail live in the house( along with my other 2 breeds of quail )
so I need something that will allow for seperate colors - take up very little room - and is easy to clean ........
so enter my cabinet unit -- we got this a few years ago from Wal*mart - its one of those you have to put together yourself I think we paid around 90.00 for it at the time
in the house we are now in there is no need for this cabinet to be used for storage I have pleanty of cabinets for that
so here is what I am working on
I removed the back of the unit
since this is in the house and I have no need to worry about anything getting in to hurt my quail I replaced the back with window screen ( the wire one used to keep bugs out of the house )
I removed the doors - replaced the shelves

next step is to make 5 seperate doors so I can work in one pen at a time and not have to move all my quail at once
add bedding and food/water dishes - nest boxes ( well mine use wicker baskets lol ) and add the quail
I want to hot glue some batting on top of each pen to prevent them hurting themselves if they happen to get scared and bonk
each pen is 13 inchs deep by 16 inches wide and the top 3 are 10 inches high -- the bottom 2 are 13X16 but are taller
right now I will only have 4 breeding groups but I am looking for another color of button to go in the bottom pen
