Welp since our budgie Chandler passed away a few months back from age I noticed Jojos increased confidence go right back down. As such he has now been relocated to my bedroom whith my pigeons over the last month he has finally started to bond to me and will now willing climb out of his cage and come hang on my shoulder when I leave his cage open for "play time" aka me supervising as he strengthens his wings with his newly grown in flight feathers! And while he has slowly but surely become more curious and confident I have had some issues such as : Hes still plucking :/ he will let about 2/3rds of his feathers grow in on his chest only to pluck them all sneakily over time, leaving him a gray undercoat only I actually bought him a plucker suit and made a soft collar from a old beanie that may help prevent this but is it safe to leave those on long term?? I know its not boredom and skin irritation has been ruled out as well he gets new toys each month and said toys reorganized twice a month to entertain him(he loves bells and cat toys oddly enough)
Also, idk what exactly his previous owners did but...he hates hands :/ wont let me touch or want me anywhere near his cage in bare hands..pull my sleeve over? No problem! Only bare hands = this weird negativity.
Last is I can't get him to try new things unless its a run of the mill bird treat and half the time not even then(haven't convinced him yogurt sunflower seeds aren't poison), how do i get him on a healthier diet if I can't even convince him to try a blueberry?!! What bird refuses a blueberry?!!
Here's him the other day yelling at me for withholding the millet from him
