set your thermostat on a wire shelf about 1/2 to 1 inch above one of the light bulbs. Set it with the back of the thermostat (the metal part) facing the light bulb. It will be way more sensitve and react to heat much faster. You will stabilze the temp, and may have to run the dial a bit higher than you had it set on the side. When I did this i dropped my range form 4 to 6 degrees to about 1 degree. It will cyle more often, but be one a shorter period of time. I run 2 fans. 1 facing up anpulling from the bottom of the bator and blowing toward the top. and one under my light pulling down . I was redy to pith the whole mess and start over until I changed my thermostat location. This thing is very stable in temp. I am very dry, about 22% , but I put 1/3 cup of water in my pan and the humidity will jump to 45 in minutes. If I keep water in my pan it will be 55 all day, if pan is dry, it will run about 1 to 1.5 degree warmer. I an not to worried about this, I am putting a small sponge in my water pan tonight, when I turn eggs, and see it that will hold the humidity , wothout messing my temp. My childhooh bator was one of those metal browers about the size of a steel dish pan. It worked like a charm. I still may try to locate one.We had the small steel one and a larger one. The small one was fool proof, the larger one needed constant tending. Good luck with your project
