My 12 week old guineas started free ranging 2 weeks ago. Wow! They are loud!

So the way I've managed them so far is;

Get up with the sun like the guineas do and let them out to free range then I go right back to bed. Once they're out of the house they settle down and are mostly quiet.

Throughout the day they've been exploring further and further away from the house. They've been going into each of my neighbor's yards then stopping to make a ton of noise and then they return again. One of my neighbors obviously doesn't like them and yelled at them to "get out of here."

They also make noise when;

there is a deer in the yard

there is a cat in the yard

a car comes

a plane flies over

Then at 7:00 pm they go back into their house looking for their feed and water. If there isn't any they make noise. So, to predict this, I make sure they have the food and water in there waiting for them. Then, when they're in, I close and lock the door.

I have their house near our diningroom and one of the three windows gave them a clear view of us eating dinner. They were making a ton of noise, so I stuff an empty pizza box over that one window and they shut right up.

I know as they get used to their surrounding they are supposed to quiet down. I have to say that they are already doing that. When they are in my yard they are mostly quiet, but when they enter a new area they start up again. It's comforting to know that they will quiet even more!

OH my, we were just cracking up at our guineas because the cat decided to plop down in front of the run last evening as they were settling in. What a ruckus!

Mine are 3 months old or thereabouts and I am hoping to free range them soon!

I have two 6-week old keets that are free ranging with my chickens.
One has started to make the two-syllable sound, so I know she is a SHE.
I'm glad cuz they are bonded together so I'm hoping they will remain a breeding pair next year.
But they are not NEARLY as loud as the adults!!
You'd think they would lose their voice or get tired of squawking all day long!
