That's a nice looking rooster, but they all are when they're fed well. We are lucky to have them.
For what it's worth, on the Oahu Craig's List there are often advertisements from someone in Kailua with what are obviously local feral chickens. Someone in that area also lists chicken traps. You can even find local listings for new or used chicken coops.
Just put "chicken" in the search box.
If you enjoy them there is probably a way to continue to have chickens. We are on the other side of Kaneohe. so let me know if we can do anyting to help.
Not to make light of a tragic situation, but one key to taming a chicken is being able to sit very still for a prolonged period.
