Maybe my phone is just acting up, but I don’t see a photo yet. Silly roo! They can get a bit annoying! When he really came of age and developed his very healthy crow, it was sometimes pretty darn annoying. So, we bought a bunch of squirt guns to place around our lanais. They seemed pretty effective in cutting the crow short! Also, because he rarely arrived at our house before about 7 AM after his quarter mile foray, it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been. Unfortunately, we would hear him gradually getting closer and closer along the beachfront from maybe 4 or 5 AM until he arrived. As he would make his way along the beach, he would do as roosters do in the very early morning, which I believe eventually became unfortunate.
Our house is generally pretty open to our back lanai, and he came pretty comfortable with visiting us in the house, as well. (Lucky us, he rarely pooped inside!) Here's a picture of him trying to get into our house through a pass through from our covered lanai to our kitchen sink. If the window was left open, we would lose a fair amount of wine glasses that had been left out to dry by the sink.
He would make his trek over to us very early in the morning and not leave until almost dusk. It made us wonder how much interest he ever had in the Hens of the flockI really don't know about lady friends back at the colony Down the beach.
Originally, he was my personal buddy and remained so. However as his testosterone came up, He also adopted my wife, not so much as a buddy but as a paramore! He would even let her pick him up without fuss! In fact, whenever she was around me, he would get into his aggressive little pecking matches with me. Nothing violent, just posturing.
He regularly got fed pretty high quality Foods when he was around Me at Breakfast on my lanai and lunchtime out on the ocean front yard. I had The habit of eating nothing but mixed nuts or seeds for my lunch every day. He also loved it when I had heavily buttered popcorn. He could swallow an entire Brazil nut! Consequently, I think he grew quite a bit bigger and healthier than the others of his wild flock. His spurs looked pretty formable indeed! I’m quite sure you could easily have been the king of the wild flock, if he’d stuck around them all day.
