Worm Farm for Feeding

most people want something that reproduces quickly, as the worm is end product you want to feed to the chickens, rather than compost, which is what red worms make well. I have no idea how quickly they reproduce.
A mealworm farm is very easy to set up and manage, and a single female can lay about 200 eggs; 6 weeks later you have lots of protein for your chickens :D.

I agree with mealworms, I use blue/red worms for composting. It could take you a whole year to have enough extra worms to feed to your chickens. If you aren't trying to get compost I say do mealworms. They breed fast and can handle more moldy/hot food than worms. You can feed them your straw/chicken droppings if that is the bedding you are using. Worms can't really take the chicken poop straight away, it needs to "age" before they can eat it.

In the gardening area this person posted about their mealworm set up. photos further down. They just dump all their coop clean up right into the mealworm pile.
