Worm Load in Chickens

We did that and successful no return for gapeworm. Now round worm so treated and now going to retest. Hopefully clear. I’m having to bag and dispose of litter which is pain in sealed bags. I’ll up dose and treat longer if come back positive.

FWIW, when you have just roundworms or cecal worms you can give a tiny dose of fenbendazole for 5 consecutive days and still eat the eggs. The FDA no egg withdrawal dose is 1 mg/kg for five days.

Approved dose for large roundworms and cecal worms is 1 mg/kg for five consecutive days.

Tapeworm or Gapeworm??
Mail in tests are the same as getting them done at the vet, slower since you wait on the mail. As time goes on you will get better at recognizing symptoms. I don't get fecals done anymore either, I know if it's been a few weeks since worming mine they will test positive, just the way it is in my environment. I've been dealing with it for years, so no question in my flock. So if you are having frequent reinfection you will likely be able to taper off the tests and just worm at the frequency you've determined works for your flock.

That’s my plan. Question do any of you compost under these circumstances. I am sealing and disposing litter right now.

I compost droppings for my garden, I burn litter and nesting materials. I use pine shavings and they take forever to compost. And I use old hay in my nest boxes, too many seeds that I don't want in my compost. My compost is not where my chickens can get in it, and neither is my garden.

Burning is a thought. Save me on bags. OK got Perfect Pet Products worm test and will test this weekend after good cleaning and hope they test negative. If not up my game. Wish me Luck! :) :caf
