worming ducks ivermectin wazine any more ? how to?

How do I worm the ducks? I gave wazine, but want to followup with a broad spectrum. Please give name, another name if applicable, the percentage please give exact dosages as when I get to TSC or the COOP they come under all different names and concentrations, etc. How do you give it orally? or give it on the skin? Or in the water?

how do know your ducks have internal parasites. waterfowl are much more resistant to them than are chickens. (ducks are way more disease and pest free than chickens..........)

don't just do it 'because...........'

I e-mailed Holderread Waterfowl Farm to ask about worming, and they told me they NEVER worm their ducks unless they have evidence that the ducks do, in fact, have worms. Like JMC said, waterfowl in general are resistant to internal parasites - they drink so much water, everything's flushed out of their systems before it has a chance to do any damage.

If you were to use something, I'd go with an all-natural product like WormGuard Plus Broad-Spectrum, which is what I use for my chickens, but it's safe for ALL birds.

if you are going to worm your ducks you need to get some Flubenvet. It is a powder you mix in their dry food. 1/2 tsp to 4.4 lbs dry food for 7 days.

I never wormed mine until I bought a pair of ducks that died at 3 & 6 months of purchase and didn't know why. I saw a post 1 yr later that the guy was having a bad problem with his flock(dieing) and wanted to know what to give them. Fulvous are mud dabbles so I figure that's where they got them from. I have other that like to mud dabble to so I worm them once a yr now. It was to late when I saw the worm in the pool. The other one died with in a week. Thankfully none of the others in my Exotic Duck collection had them.

I was wondering about worming my ducks too as a precaution. I read somehwere on some site that they get parasites from eating worms and such because the parasite uses them as a host and then get's into your birds.

Mine eat worms like crazy in the wee morning hours. I haven't seen any evidence of worms or parasites yet.

I do once in a while have to clean duck poo off of the hot tub and in the sun room and have checked a few times.

They look pretty healthy and I do change their drinking water twice a day and pool water once a day. So far I have only seen avaiable the wormer you have to get from your vet. I was curious if there was any kind of natural or homeopahtic type wormer out there?

I have also not treated for mites yet but should, I asume!? They don't seem to look buggy but they do scratch once in a while.

Oh I had another question about this too. Do I have to have them wormed before I can eat the eggs? I wasn't sure?
