worming hens

The two best dewormers for chickens are Safeguard(fenbendazole) and Valbazen(albendazole). These both kill all or nearly all worms, depending on what dosage is used for each.

As far as I know, there are no dewormers with no withdrawal period. Most have a withdrawal period of around two weeks.

Strike III by Durvet is used in the feed for 5 days, and there is no egg withdrawal time, but dosage may not be exact for each chicken.
The best wormer in my opinion is Valbazen, since it gets all chicken worms, and the exact dose is given to each bird, but it has an egg withdrawal time of 14 days after the second dose. Dosage is 1/2 ml orally for each chicken, and repeat in 10 days. Fenbendazole or SafeGuard Liquid Goat wormer is the same dose and the same withdrwawal time. Wormout Gel is another good one that is put in the water for 2 full days, which makes it easier to treat a large flock. Withdrawal time is 10 days after 2nd day of treatment. Safeguard liquid *or* paste at 0.23ml per pound orally five days in a row will treat roundworms, cecal worms, gapeworms, capillary worms and possibly some species of tapeworms. Not sure what worms it will treat if given for just one day at a lesser dose.

Valbazen at 0.08ml per pound orally once (repeat in ten days) will treat roundworms, cecal worms and a large percentage of capillary worms, *maybe* some tapeworms, and I think it would have to be given three days in a row to treat gapeworms, but don't quote me on that.

@kens147 , best thing to do would be to grab a bunch of fresh poop in the morning, stick it in a zip-lock bag, stir well, take to vet and pay for fecal testing.
