I purchased wormer liquid that goes in water, but i am reluctant to use it since the weather is so bad out the last few days. Is worming on a chicken very stressful? is there a better time of the year to worm them? how long a period of time dare they wormed for?

I can't answer all the questions but I can tell you what I know.
It doesn't seem stressful at all, that I can tell.
You need to worm them before the big laying season, so now is about right.
You shouldn't eat the eggs and folks say not to hatch them either for 14 days at least. This is a matter of opinion though, others may have other ideas about it.
The wormer Wazime 17 says worm every 30 days....I don't do that..I'd never have a "good" egg.
Worm them and then change to "regular" water in one day.
Thats about all I know, not much, but I hope it helps.

donna8424, I would not feed the eggs back to your chickens. You would be reintroducing the wormer back into their system, thus extending their worming period and you not being able to eat the eggs neither. It's best to thrown them away.I'm worming my chickens at this time and have thrown quite a few away since last friday grrrr.

This may help go to your feed store and ask for DE. First off let me make it clear that I am writing about food grade DE. Many people have told me I should be using Diatomaceous Earth (DE) as part of my routine feeding and maintenance with raising my chickens. Well two years ago I split my flock and gave it a try, now I can't say enough about how great it is.

* Controls worms, lice, and mites. This was the main reason I was interested in the product. You just add it to the feed and it is completely safe for the animals to eat.
* Pest control. I sprinkle DE all around the coop and the chicken run, as well as in their nest boxes. I have also read that you can use it in your garden as a pest control on plants even though I have not tried it. And in your house and I have not tried this either since I can’t imagine adding to the dust that is already present in my home.
* Dusting of chickens. I routinely sprinkle DE on my chickens.
Results Happy chickens.

jlapham, you are correct about food grade DE. It's great stuff and I have a 50# bag of it in the garage. I even pour some on fire ant nests and it kills them too! It can be used to control parasites including worms. The key word is control. I want worms dead, not controlled. please read thru threehorses threads on wormings and other parasites like lice and mites.she thoroughly explains all this in detail...DE,cayenne pepper etc...relating to parasites.
