Worming peafowl

I will be getting three peachicks in a few weeks. The last time I had peafowl, I didn't have the information to worm properly, and they all died. Could someone tell me the proper type of wormer, and schedule for worming peafowl?

Not sure you lost the last peachicks to worms.

Started them on a medicated 24% to 28% starter , best to keep them off the ground the first few months. I raise mine on wire , keeps them out of the waste.

For peachicks I worm them with panacure(safe guard for goats) 3cc per gal. of water.

Use ivomec for ones 6 months and older also.

I worm all mine 3 times a year.

The last time I had peafowl they were 1-3 years old. I was not worming consistently, wasn't sure of the dosage or what form of worming to do. Peafowl died off one at a time, the last was a beautiful blue pied that I bought from Mike Johns in Oklahoma. I did not know anything was wrong until one morning he was extremely lethargic, and was gone the same day. No, I did not 'see worms' in the poo. But the fact that they are extremely suseptible to worms, and I was worming inconsistently makes me think it is highly likely that was the problem, as I'd had them over a year.

My mistake, thought they were peachicks. Yes sound like capillary, or gapeworm, or maybe blackhead.

That's okay, my post may have been misleading, as I stated I'm getting peachicks soon. Two of the peafowl I lost I did raise from a few days old. (lost one of a trio I bought). Someone local has just hatched out peachicks, and are waiting until they are a bit older before they sell them. I haven't spoken to them, they are customers of one of the feed stores around here. So I'm on pins and needles 'til I know for sure I'm getting them.

Okay, I've found another local breeder, and he's told me about two other local breeders. I will be getting chicks from ONE of them this year. But I asked him about worming, and his schedule for worming is more intensive than what some people here seem to do. He told me he now does ?levisol? (for goats) in the water for two days in a row, waits a week, then repeats for two days. And he does this on a monthly basis. Is this too often? Is there maybe a reason? (like parasites, and worms being worse down south where we have such long hot summers)

Myself I think every 3 months would be enought. Do they also use the ivomec, you need to use both ,but not at the same time, my guess their goat wormer has panacure(safe guard for goat does).

I treat mine with panacure 2 treatment 3 times a year.
Then one treatment 3 times a year with ivomec , 30 days before the panacure.

I thought that was a little excessive. And no he did not mention ivomec, but I will use it.
