worming question and disposal of eggs for two weeks

I already did the wazine as prescribed by my vet. Hope it doesn't cause an overload in the digestive system. My hen actually was very sick for another reason. She said it wasn't the worms. But my hen is on the up and up and I have learned more about worming. I have had chickens 21 months.

Don't worry about the Wazine (piperazine). Just be sure to dose again on the 10th day. Just keep an eye on them and pay attention to droppings under the roost, or after they begin eating in the morning. You said your hen was sick for another reason. Did the vet tell you why, and for what reason?

Your vet shouldve explained to you that worms weaken a chickens immune system to the point that it opens the door for all kinds of problems including bacterial, viral and fungal diseases. Of course there are other internal problems not caused by worms.

She believes she ate something bad..they free range (14) and was suddenly ill high temp of 107 lethargic. All others fine. Maybe ate a dead mouse or something. I don't feed scraps. Glad I took her in. She has responded to baytril and metacam. Eating again...I hope she makes it. One of those girls with a lot of personality. So I hope she is around for along time. I need something to keep me entertained.

Eating again is a good sign. I hope she makes a full recovery for you. I wish you the best.

Just so you know, 107 is on the high side, but not uncommon for healthy chickens. I hope your hen is doing better.

She's eating and coming out h hanging with the hens. Her temp was 106 Sunday so good to know 107 is not that bad. Her butt is still messy so I assume her poop is still loose. Two more days of baytril. Bitter cold coming here tonight. I am worming the whole flock again later this week.
