I'm pretty sure some of my chickens have worms... not sure what kind. Is there a broad spectrum wormer that will take care of all? Is it going to be a hassle and have to worm with something different for every single type of worm? Also, should I wait until it is cooler or is it okay to do this in 100 degree temps? And finally, do you have to cull all the eggs they lay after the treatment and if so, for how long?

Thanks!

Go to your local farm store and buy some Safeguard. Get the one for goats... it'll be liquid and say goat drench on the label. Get a small syringe to measure the dosage. You don't need a needle because you're going to squirt it down their throat.

Dosage is 1/2 cc for standard bird, 1/4 cc for a bantam. Redose in 10 days to get the hatching larva. Withdrawl is 24 days from the first dosage date.

If I have a really weak bird, I give them 1/2 the dosage one day and then the remainder the next.

That's a good broad spectrum wormer. It'll kill most everything chickens get except tapeworm. If they have those, then you'll need to use Valbazen, but Safeguard is a good basic wormer.

It is used for laying hens very frequently, but it is not officially a chicken wormer. The only officially approved wormer for chickens is piperazine, which kills only roundworms. Most people toss the eggs for the withdrawal period then eat them again.
