Has anyone ever heard of or tried this??? It was recommended by a farmer friend of mine.He actually recommended this for two pot bellied pigs I'm fostering and said I should give some to my chickens since there is pretty much a 100% chance of them scratching through the pigs poo. I've given it to the pigs as he directed and noticed no ill effects other than them pooping more. So what do you guys think??

Guess I should've also said that I saw no worms in the piggy poop, and have not given the beef fat to my chickies. The pigs are also VERY healthy- too healthy. I've been working very hard to get them to a correct weight. They are going to their new home tonight. A nice big farm with another piggy pal to play with

I never heard of worming hogs with beef fat. When I used to have hogs (Durocs)...I'd fill a 55 gallon drum halfway with corn, fill it up to the top with water, add 1 tablespoon of Red Devil Lye and stir it real good with a boat paddle. Never had a worm problem with hogs. The chickens were never near the hog pen...

I think it's pretty well guaranteed that the beef fat will not harm the pigs or chickens or the worms that might reside within them.

You know.......I really got to thinking about it and thought the same thing. I guess he was thinking all the fat would loosen them up so as to push any worms out quickly??? I dunno. I think I'll stick to my regular worming routine and feed the beef fat as a special treat

I'm thinking that's the sensible way to go.
