worming with wazine

I don't think so, you are using that product in an off label usage, aka, not exactly up to regs.

Talk to some folks that might have a clue as to its metabolic half life. That will determine the withdrawal period.

It takes a while for it to leave the birds system and it will work on you just like it does on the birds.

Happy worming.

So are you saying that you don't think 14 days is a long enough withdrawal, or that there is no acceptable withdrawal period?

I'm saying that with the use of Ivermectin there is a need to hold the eggs. Your post says you don't think there is.

I am not going to get into a discussion of how long that period should be, you need to run that down on your own.

I've used ivermectin pour on before. There's plenty of discussion in BYC forum whether to wait 2 weeks or 4 weeks. I personally wait 4 weeks, better to be safe than sorry. Toss the eggs in the garbage, you'll have plenty of eggs after it's all said and done.

I use VALBAZEN (albendazole) it is a broad spectrum dewormer. It kills tape worm and alot of others. It was kinda hard to find info on this product. But, I got the info from someone here on BYC. Just search BYC you will find more info on it! I also found a chart that helped me figure out what type of product to get. Depending on the type of worm the chickens had. Here is the link to the chart....

the treatment I used was ..... You give 1/2 cc for standard size chickens and 1/4 cc for bantams. It is given orally. Good luck!

We don't use Wazine it's like giving them water, we use Safeguard for goats 2cc or 2ml to a gallon of water, then once a year we catch all our birds and give each one a shot of Ivomec Plus 1/4 to 1/2cc depends on size of bird (older birds not chicks).

Valbazen (albendazole) is also commonly used to treat worms in humans. I used it in 2008 and feel real comfortable with a two week withdrawel on it.

the safeguard goat wormer 10%(febendazole) is what the state vet told me to use @2.25 ml to gallon water for 3 days for treatment or ivermectim sheep drench@ 6mls per 5 gallons of water. he seemed to prefer the safeguard goat wormer.

, (I had shots on the brain) we do prefer the Safeguard for goats over anything else we have used, when you are worming over 400 birds you want it right the first time.
