worming

Hi all,

Thought I'd throw my two cents in. Most organic chicken growers put a clove of garlic in the water as a wormer and, more importantly, a worm deterrent, as well as general health tonic. This is in addition to the apple cider vinegar--also a worm deterrent and health tonic. Be sure to use unpasteurized apple cider vinegar if you want to try it--the regular store stuff won't work, at least, not nearly as well (it will have some nutritive value). But it's the "mother" in the vinegar--the live bacteria--that give the benefits.

Pumpkin seeds are fed to livestock (I feed them to my sheep and goats) as a worm preventative and have been shown to have some dewormer abilities, though I would never rely on it as a complete remedy if they already have worms. (which they always do).

Good luck!

Lynn
