Hi folks, in cleaning my coop yesterday, I noticed that there were worm like parasites in some of the dung I cleaned from the roost. I have been scouring this site for the past 24 hours in an effort to learn as much as possible regarding worms and eliminating them. My question is, has anyone tried the Verm-X natural pellets? It looks like I can easily get this off of Amazon. Also, is anyone aware of a good treatment that can simply be placed into the chickens' water dispenser? Perhaps anything readily available from Tractor Supply? Thanks in advance.

Post pics please....could be maggots and not something from inside the chicken.

I don't believe Verm-x is a 'real' wormer....marketing BS.
Best to have fecal samples tested to find out what kind and how many parasites may be present before worming.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!

Thank you very much! I wasn't even thinking about maggots. I don't have a picture, but now that you mention, they did look like maggots. I was so "concerned" when I saw them, I assumed the worst. You see, I was out on vacation for a week and a half and the poop built up by the roost. It was also extremely hot out while I was away. After I cleaned, I haven't seen the maggots since. I have been checking the droppings to make sure.

Also, appreciate the hint to add my location.

Well, that's a major clue!
Good you've seen no more of them!!
Any time you find something 'weird', it's always good to take some pics.
