Worms and other bugs in poop

So today I was cleaning the coop and I noticed some white worms that were wiggling around in a piece of poop. I was very grossed out-as I have never had to deal with anything like this before- so I quick just shoveled the poop in the bag and tried to clean the coop faster. However, I wished I got a better look at the poop to better describe what the worms look liked. As I was dumping the bag in the yard waste, I tried to look to see and I saw a different type of bug. It was brown and sort of flat and had a lot of little legs on the sides. So I'm thinking that I'm dealing with 2 different things now?

My chickens free range throughout the week but also have a large run. They are 2 year old Australorps and Easter Eggers. I only noticed the bugs in one of the poops and currently have 2 brooders that have been going for awhile(4ish weeks) so now I'm thinking it could be something besides brooding? I have tried breaking them by putting them in a special section/cage in the run but they keep breaking out.

I bought Wazine for them and am planning on starting them on it tomorrow, as well as ordered some soil, sand, and Diatomaceous Earth to mix together and cover their run so 1) it covers all the poop in their run 2) hopefully provides them some good places to dust bathe if I do also have mites or something.

As I have stated before, I have never had to deal with this and honestly have no idea what to do. if any of you could explain how I should use the Wazine (like with probiotics) or any other info about worming I would greatly appreciate it.

What do you think the bugs were? Is wazine a good choice?

Was it old or fresh poop?

If it was old it could have been maggots if it was fresh probuly worms

Were they short or long and string Like?

It could have been magot were I live in nc if I don't clean my coop larva from fly's get in poop

I would start them on dewormed any ways as you should twice a year

If the worms are round worms, spaghetti like, then wazine will work. If they were more like rice grains then likely tape worm, and wazine would not work. If they were maggots, then whole different story. If you can post a picture it would help to identify. Best option would be to have a vet do a fecal float test for you, many vets will do even if they don't see chickens, some will not. That would ID them for sure and get you a recommendation on medication to use. Medication and dosing for round worms is different than for tape worms, so knowing what you have is important. And if it's maggots then you'd not need to worm at all, you'd be better off trying to reduce your fly population.

Well the poop looked moist and not dried out so I was assuming it was from the prior night. However, we did just return from vacation and I had not cleaned the coop for 2 weeks so there's that.

I didn't really look at them very closely, I just sort of acting rash and fast and I regret not taking a better look at them. However, I thought that they looked short. I brought in a fecal sample to a vet and they are going to test it for me.

Thank you for your suggestion! I took in a sample to a vet today.
