My two ISA Browns appear very healthy, however today I noticed in one of their poos there were live worms wriggling around. Does this mean they're infected with worms, and if so, how do I treat it?
Also being in close contact with the chickens, is there any risk of me getting infected too?

Thanks.

If they're pooping out worms, it means they're infected with a lot of worms.
Are you sure they weren't earthworms/maggots that went into the dropping after the fact?

Assuming they do have worms, you need to dose them with Safeguard or another dewormer.

You will need to de-worm your chickens. Then there is a period of egg-withdraw. (meaning you don't eat those eggs). Follow recommendations on the dewormer you get to do the treatment.

These worms are not usually catch-able by humans,,,,,, but as always practice safety. Wash your hands well after handling chickens.
I always wash my hands after I handle my chickens. Even though they are healthy, and worm free. There are too many cooties to be of concern,,, to neglect washing hands.

Definitely wasn't anything that came in after, thanks for the advice.

Is this withdraw due to the treatment or just the worms (I'm assuming the treatment). Thanks for the other advice.
