Hello,

I bought 50lb bags of sunflower seeds, wheat, and corn in June and have been storing them in the house until i needed them, which would have been this weekend since i just finished up my previous batch (I prefer to mix my own). I have 6 chickens, so they don't eat a ton, so it can tend to sit around.

I went in the room the bags were stored in this morning before work and noticed ??worms?? on the outside of the bags? About 2 dozen on the bags/walls/ceilings (wtf?). I had about 3 minutes to clean them up before i had to leave for work so i didn't get a chance to open the bags, but i did move them outside.

I've tried googling "worms in chicken feed" to see what they were but all the results were about feeding worms to chickens and not helpful at all/not what i was looking for. I'm wondering if these things are in the feed, the chickens won't just eat them? I mean, they're worms. Meal worms or something? They were small. Maybe 1/4" - 1/2"? White-ish.

I have noticed an increase in moths in my house, so maybe they're moth worms or whatever those things are called? I just googled those and they could be it.

Any idea what i can expect when i open the feed bags tonight?

Thanks

Sounds like the indian mealmoth.
I found some of those once in a box of cereal once, but i think they came in the house originaly with some dog food i purchsed. I also had some bird seed once that had them.
. Had to compleatly empty my pantry. Disenfect it. Took that opporiunity to repaint the entire room and shelves and got rid if them.
