I have a two year old golden comet who is sick. She is standing still hunched up, chicken tucked under, with pale/small waddle and comb. She had an enormously poopy butt, and we gave her a bath last night to make sure she didn't have an obstruction. During her bath, I could feel her keel. After her bath, she drank quite a bit of water. I was happy to see her eat and drink last night.

However, this morning, lethargic and standing in one place. Found her on the coop floor and wished I would have isolated her last night. Not really eating or drinking. She has very very very smelly and runny poop. Brown/green in color and watery. (pic below) I did not see any evidence of visible worms. I suspect her feces has been runny for some time. Is this coccidiosis? I have not had any medical issues with my flock yet, so amateur in this department.

How should I proceed? Dewormer? Is there a dewormer that also treats Coccidiosis.

When was the last time she laid an egg?
I doubt it's coccidiosos unless she's been drinking feces contaminated water. I recommend that you worm her with Safeguard liquid goat wormer or Valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer.

It is doubtful that she drank contaminated water. However there is an old pie tin that had food scraps at one time, that I found discarded with a little feces and rainwater in under a tree in the run. Removed it.

She hasn't laid for a while. she started laying eggs with a very fragile shell at the too last fall. They sometimes break when she lays.

I have her separated, have ordered Safeguard but won't arrive until Saturday. She seems weak. All other hens seem fine.

Should I keep her isolated until Saturday? Thanks for response,

That information is helpful. I'm wondering if is she is an internal layer or had an egg break inside her. If that's the case, then there's infection internally and there's not much that can be done.
Try soaking her in warm water up to her sides for about 20 minutes and as needed. At the same time gently massage her underside front to rear. If there's a stuck egg or even broken shell or yolk, the warm water will relax her innards and the massaging should help her expel anything from her vent.
I'd still go ahead and worm her with the Safeguard. You can also give her Poultry Nutri Drench orally, one drop twice a day for no more than 7 days. It will help keep up her strength. Good luck.

Hello dawg53, Thank you for responding again. I called the vet, but have not heard back. I gave her a bath, but wasn't able to locate any eggshell or yolk. I have Safeguard coming in the mail, but not until Saturday. There is not a local store for me to purchase sooner. I also ordered Nutri Drench.

She has eaten a scrambled egg with a touch of yogurt, but is not drinking as much as last night. She is still huddled. She has pooed twice more each incredibly stinky. I am not exaggerating, I can handle bad smells and this is up there. Her poo was mostly water with some white the last time she pooped.

Should I purchase Corid? It is the only thing I can get my hands on locally, but not sure if this is what she needs?
