Fenbendazole and Valbazen kill worms. DE is a placebo. You want it to work so it "does".

I can’t tell from the pic, but I’m also on my phone, I would not eat wormy eggs.. pitch them! Maybe start getting eggs somewhere else.

Diatomaceous earth for worming, I just heard of something else to use for worming too but can’t remember. Google plants for deworming. God’s green earth has it all!!

I had heard that when poop is getting in eggs they need to be wormed so I gave mine that and they quit having poop on the eggs.
Is that true about poop on eggs needs wormed?

Thank you guys! I’ve eaten raw eggs my entire life (Mom always made traditional Japanese food while growing up) and she always took the chalaza out. This “worm” thing doesn’t look like normal chalaza though. To be on the safe side, we’re going to give it back to the coworker so he can look at it more closely. He knows his chickens better than me It definitely could be chalaza but it could also be a worm. It happens but nonetheless both of us will be educated in some what shape and form and hopefully improve our chickenmanship lol

Just got a message from him. His chickens do have worms and start treatment tomorrow. No eggs for a month!

Do you know if them eating earth worms contribute to them getting round worms or any other type? My husband has been feeding our 5 week old chicks worms ...

Earthworms do carry hair worms. I. New to chickens so I have been reading on all the terrible things about chickens ..

Is a small tiny worm in an egg okay? A single one? We still buy eggs from a coworker since our chickens are not laying yet. I decided to open one after reading about worms and noticed it. It’s not a dog/cat hair or a lint particle. I had someone else look at it and confirmed it was a worm. They told me it should be okay because the heat from cooking will kill it but I dunno lol. For future reference, is this a sign to deworm or is the case of “all chickens have worms - just depends if their immune can tackle it” and is still safe to eat? My spouse wants to toss the rest of the eggs. I kinda do too. Worms are unappetizing to me. The coworkers have flocks, probably 50+. I did my absolute best to take a pic and I just couldn’t do it as well as I wanted it. I circled what I believe is to be the worm.

I saved the egg so we could give it to them to look at it. They seemed pretty defensive saying they sold 24 dozens last week and no one complained.

That seems an over reaction on their part. I would be thankful for the sample they could treat their flock if it was an issue.

So DE doesn't help as a preventative? Ugh... I should not have chickens
