Worms?

Had an apparently healthy 2yr old hen suddenly die so had a necropsy. Turned out to be peritonitis but fecal test had this info...what does the 1900 epg mean?

I would just call and ask, but from what I'm reading, it looks like she had a significant case of worms. If that's the case, you'll probably need to worm your flock.

Eek. Drat... we deworm with ivermectin but clearly that's not working! Any suggestions of what to use/how to dose?

I'd probably use pyrantel at 100 mg/kg given once, orally
or alternately you can use fenbendazole at 20 mg/kg once and repeat in 5 days.

And if you do use these, you should prepare yourself for a lot of worms under the roosts. They will probably poop them all out.

It would be best to use Valbazen. It slowly kills worms over several days without a massive kill off preventing toxic dead worm overload. Dosage is 1/2cc given orally to each chicken. Repeat again in 10 days.
