I found these worms when cleaning the coop. Not sure if they can from the chickens or if something laid eggs in the poop?? Any idea what kind? They are about the size of a long grain of rice and very wiggly. They inch around like an inch worm.

Thanks. That’s what I was thinking too, but will keep a close eye outIt's not a poultry worm, probably maggots.
I haven’t dewormed them. This is our first batch we have raised in South Carolina. When we raised a couple of flocks in Southern Arizona we never dewormed. I’ll go ahead and look into doing that. The fecal test isn’t a bad idea either. I need to do some research on the best dewormed to use since we have never done so before. When was the last time you de-wormed your flock? Might be time to do so, especially if you live in a warm or humid environment.
You could always collect a variety of fresh poop in a baggie, stir it up well, and send it to the vet to do some fecal tests. They are usually pretty cheap and will be able to confirm worms, especially if you get a good variety of poop.
I recommend Valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer. Dose each chicken orally using a syringe without needle, 1/2ml. Then repeat in 10 days. The fecal test isn’t a bad idea either. I need to do some research on the best dewormed to use since we have never done so before.
We also have 5 week old pullets in a separate pen inside the same yard. Can you use the same wormer for that age?I recommend Valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer. Dose each chicken orally using a syringe without needle, 1/2ml. Then repeat in 10 days.
Yes you can. I usually wait until 6 weeks to worm young birds. We also have 5 week old pullets in a separate pen inside the same yard. Can you use the same wormer for that age?
It was a maggot.Did you ever find out what kind of worm this is? I just found some in my coop and it looks like this.
