Hi all! This will be my first post on this site. I have had chickens (10) for about 3 years. Up until recently they were only for eggs and entertainment. I started experimenting with an incubator that we bought at a flea market and have hatched 4 chicks so far! The other day i went to my Americauna coop to collect eggs and in one of the nest boxes there was a rather large pile of what resembled coffee grounds or dark sand with many, many little white worms wiggling around in it!! The stuff did not look like poop. Could it have been something that was coughed up?

Goodness, I can't think it would be anything but poop - they typically do not cough things up. I'd worm them, and with something strong such as Ivermec Eprinex, because if you are seeing the worms, they have quite a heavy load. Do not eat eggs for a few weeks after treatment, and if you search on here, you'll find dosage instructions. (search feature is in the blue bar at the top of the page). Good luck!
