Hi, I purchased a Parrotlet from Florida and it was shipped to me on Tuesday(couldn’t ship on Monday because of the holiday) and the bird hasn’t arrived yet; it’s Thursday morning… Should I be worried? I went to the post office yesterday because the package was supposed to be arrived by then, but I received no phone call or anything letting me know it was there. The workers showed me on their end and their information was the same as mine… still not updated since the day it shipped. I’m worried I’m going to receive a dead or dying bird… What should I do? (Here’s the history btw)

I would be worried. The problem is that with many things, including live animals, the USPS sub contracts to other venders. It could be UPS, FedEx or much smaller companies that fly that route. It is a juggling nightmare but none of those companies handling the packages has the ability to scan the package and updates don't happen till it gets back into USPS personnel hands. Upon handoff it gets scanned and system is updated.
They've been using subcontractors for many years but the problem became exacerbated to the point of concern when the last president appointed someone with no postal service experience (a crony campaign donator) to be postmaster.
He started cost cutting, selling off sorting equipment and cutting overtime. The latter resulted in the death of millions of chicks from sitting on loading docks for days.
