Worried about my blind pullet's future. PICTURES!!!

I have read about handicap chickens before and they do fine if they can have a buddy to kinda help them. I wouldn't let her with a rooster though. The mounting might be kinda tramatic for her. As for the egg laying, I don't see a problem with that.

I have raised birds for over 11 years and in that time I have delt with all kinds of deformaties with chickens. I have seen things that would freak most people out, but I have always kept them or got them form people who wouldnt take care of them, and make them my pets. I have only had one blind chicken tho. He was a beautiful White Cochin Bantam cockerel. Very nice, actually showed him and he done pretty well to be blind. He stayed with other birds and he mated fine,...granted it took him a litle longer to get the job done than a male that could see,...but I raised a few chicks from him. None of them turned out to be blind. He ate fine, drank fine, mated fine, done everything a normal bird did,...just bumped into things more often and stumbled over things more easily. I eventually sold him to a friend on the other BYC board in Tx and she loved him. I think he eventually got picked off by a predator sadly. But he was over a year old before he was killed. I think I might have a picture of him somewhere actually.

Southern28Chick, I have a blind pullet here too. She was blind from hatch but luckily picked up eating and drinking from listening to the other chicks in the brooder.
She has a particular corner of the yard she hangs out in --- kind of close to the coop door. When I bring in feed, I call out "where's my little blind girl" and she comes straight to me (and the feed), following my voice.
She's really interesting to watch. She'll stand with her neck stretched up and slowly move her head back and forth, then walk straight to the waterer. I guess she smells it.
She goes in the coop in the evening by herself, too.
She doesn't roost but sleeps on the floor beside a nestbox.
She hasn't started laying yet, but it shouldn't be long. I wonder if she'll go in the coop to lay or just drop them where she stands?

It's good your girl, Tiny, can find food and water by herself. I bet she does just fine when she starts laying.

I have a little roo buff orpington that I am almost certain is blind. He is the smallest of them, and is the roo. I always thought he was just friendly, as he never tried to run away from me when I picked him up, but now that they are starting to go outside its becoming obvious something is going on. he is always getting himself stuck in places(behind a chair, under the deck, etc, etc).
Is there a way to test/see if he really is blind? His pupils look pretty normal to me.
Anyone have any tips? I am not making sure he is getting to eat as much as the rest and have eliminated all objects where he could get stuck during free range time.
