Worried about my Hen's Health

My hen, Waffles, is about a year and a half old and i believe she is a Welsummer (she was a gift). She is typically very quick, energetic, curious, and won't let me catch her. The other day I noticed she didn't seem like herself.

Her wings are droopy and she rarely does an activity that would involve the use of her wings because they seem limited in there ability to function. She is lighter than my other two hens, almost feels like she's "bony," or has little meat on her bones.

She does go out of the coop with the others and pecks around the yard, but her energy is low.

She has not laid an egg in about two months, but we had a big move so I attributed that to stress.

She also has had very clear, with bright yellow liquid droppings.

The only other time i had experienced sick hens was when she was younger, i believe she had Coccidiosis, and was given medication and those symptoms left and she returned to normal.

Her comb is also light, and small.

If anyone has any suggestions, tips, resources i could use i would appreciate it greatly i am very concerned.

thank you

I am having this same problem with one of my chickens too, I thought it was cocci at first but now I am just not sure! Do you think lice/mites would cause listlessnes and no energy and wings drooping down? If so how do you treat for that?

Lice/mites left untreated on a chicken can cause anemia...weaken the chicken such that it's immune system cant cope with the blood loss. Visually inspect your chickens especially around the vent area. You can see them crawling...feather lice are white in color, mites can be brown, black, red in color, look for eggs at the base of feathers around the vent/tail areas. If you see any of these, I recommend using sevin dust on your chickens. You must also dust their house, roosts, nests. Then in about 10 days redust your chickens and their house like the first time to kill larva that have hatched since the 1st dusting.

Thank you for this info!! I am going to do this today, everything you are saying makes total sense now. I thought about it but never gave it a second thought til now. So you recommend seven dust? Is that a food grade kind? I have also heard of DE, is that the same stuff as seven dust?

Sevin dust and food grade DE are different products. There is no food grade sevin dust, dont put it in their feed. Sevin dust will kill lice/mites. DE can be used as a preventative but wont kill lice/mites. Food grade DE can be put in their feed to prevent worms but if there's an infestation,it's useless. DE can be sprinkled around in the coop, house, nests to deter flies. Sevin dust is alot cheaper than DE.
