We have a Speckled Sussex that has been recovering inside from a Vitamin B deficiency (pretty sure as she had curled toes and stopped walking, then improved over time with Poly-vi-Sol)
She is doing a lot better than she was but is not fully healed. It's been a couple of months. She still limps some. I'm not sure it's going to fully heal at this point. She can eat and drink and the like, at least.
I worry a lot about trying to reintroduce her to the flock (9 others in the coop/run of various breeds). We just got a bantam Cochin yesterday to replace a silkie roo, so there's another we could try to reintroduce at the same time. I had them in the same cage yesterday next to the coop, however, and the bantam started pecking and otherwise bothering the speckled. Sigh.
Is there hope of them adjusting to her successfully even though she is limping? Would it be better to get her her own little coop somehow? I am not sure. She is so sweet and tame now, like our baby. My dad is a bit anxious to get her out in the backyard again, though.
