This is north Georgia, I think, it may be the Artic this year--- It has been down in the 14 range and is going dwon to 11 and not getting above freezing for severall days. This is Waaaay cold for here. I have only had 11 twice in 30 years I remember when I lived 50 miles south of here.
My horses have running stream and I have a de-icer in the trough, but the ducks have buckets and small tubs for ponds and the geese have a inground pond/tub. I had to drain it 2 days ago when the ice got 1" thick on top, was afraid the pond drain would crack. The buckets with extra food slurp in it didn't freeze until 2 days ago. I have to drain the buckets at night and remove and walk the hundred feed of house out to drain it . I missed a spot the other night and had to remove the house and get a spare. The freeze free hydrandt we put in helped! Used to have to shut up the valve and reopen it a the other house, but that was only once every couple years at low temp.
About to go out now, it's the mummy clothing- effect I have that is annoying

I do have 2 pair of waterproof gloves and NEED them

--What I needed the other day was a face mask though, I have twice, mind you, hooked up the hose to the hydrant , but the quick connects were frozen a bit and when I pulled the lever up, I got water squirted out into my face

I don't know how it does that , but it got the only part that wasn't in layers! --
