Hello, we live in Oklahoma and it's been real hot here, our sweet salmon favorrel had her beard plucked out by one of our cream legbars, our salmon favorrel, Ingrid is so sweet and passive she just let it happen. I noticed she has been sleeping a lot the last couple days during the day, and keeping on eye closed a lot (but not having to), and her comb and wattle are a little discolored, whitish and a purple/brown color. I moved her inside this morning because I noticed the same cream legbar, Geraldine, picking ok her again last night, and it's going to be 100 today. She has food and water and I put electrolytes and probiotics in it. Any advice or ideas of what is going on would be appreciated. Thank you

I have raised faverolles in a mixed flock and they are sweet, but easily picked on. Do they all have plenty of room inside the coop and run to get away from bullies? Do they get outside to free range to help with boredom? You could try separating the leg bar for a few days to see if it helps. You also could order a set of pinless peepers and applicator for the bully. Those help when the bully cannot take aim but can still function normally getting food and water. Here is an article about those:

Yes they do have room and they do free range. She is just so passive she just sits there and I am thinking maybe it has her depressed a little and not drinking enough. My plan is to keep Ingrid inside for a couple days and try to get her hydrated and then start putting the bully in a dog crate periodically to weaken her spot in the pecking order, which isn't much. It only seems to be against Ingrid. I will look into those, thank you!!!!

I am also wondering if the excessive heat has made her just exhausted? She just wants to sleep

There may be something else going on with her which is drawing attention from the other bird. It's not uncommon for a sick or weak bird to be attacked or picked on by flock mates. I would give her a good going over, make sure there are no injuries hiding in feathers, check for lice/mites. Get a look at droppings to see if they are normal or not. Make sure her crop is functioning normally, filling when she eats, emptying. Check it first thing in the morning before she's had access to food or water, it should be empty then. If it's not then that indicates a problem. Check her body condition, is her keel bone prominent or is her breast well muscled? Do you feel any bloat in her abdomen, below the vent between the legs? How old is she and do you know when she last laid? A very submissive bird can sometimes be kept from getting to food and water enough, causing weakness. See if she will eat some cooked or scrambled egg. A B complex or super B complex vitamin once a day might be helpful, any brand, human ones, extra will be excreted so no worries. Just put it in her beak and push it back, she'll swallow it.

The green may be from not eating well. Not a real normal looking poop. See if they are consistently like that. And let us know about the other questions asked. The fuller picture we have, the better advice given.

She is very puffed up right now
